Daimler will continue to expand its commercial vehicle business worldwide

Despite faced with the European market crisis and new government regulations, Daimler, based in Stuttgart, Germany, still expects the truck business to continue to expand.

Daimler, a commercial vehicle manufacturer, hopes to continue to expand its market share in a slightly rising market worldwide. Andre Renschler, director of commercial vehicles at Daimler, said that the opportunities for development are good because Daimler can continue to make progress based on the successful 2012 sales. The biggest risk factor for development is the European debt crisis and government management measures.

Andre Renschler said that from the mid-to-long term perspective, the business of the truck department is showing a growth trend. Experts predict that the annual growth rate of the truck market worldwide will be between 3% and 4% until 2020. Daimler wants to surpass this number. Sales growth at the end of November this year was 11%, with 424,000 trucks sold. In this way, the number of trucks sold this year after November is almost the same as last year's figure.

Daimler benefits mainly from emerging industrial countries and the United States market. Even in the stagnant European market, Daimler used its new models to achieve a slight increase in sales. In contrast, however, Daimler did not develop smoothly in Brazil because of the local economic recession and the new exhaust emission standards.
