Heavy truck market rebounded in August 2011, FAW Jiefang and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles led the race
The domestic heavy truck market showed a slight rebound in August after falling for the fourth consecutive month in 2011. In August, the sales volume reached 57,000 units, a 12.8% increase from the previous quarter.
Among them, 1,300 were sold by FAW, and 11,000 were sold by Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles, which led the growth of the heavy truck industry. Compared with the downturn in July, FAW Jiefang and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle achieved an increase of 36.3% and 17.3% sequentially in August. In addition, Foton Auman, Shaanxi Auto, Beiben, and Hongyan respectively grew by 7.8%, 13%, 29%, and 23.5%, which means that the dawn of the heavy truck market is expected to emerge from the trough of consecutive months.
The heavy truck market is greatly encouraged by the implementation of the "Regulations on the Protection of Highway Safety." Various localities have set off the highway control campaigns that ruled over a hundred days, and many provinces and municipalities have increased penalties for violations of overloading. Due to various enforcement efforts in various regions, many transport users have taken a wait-and-see attitude in June and July before and after the implementation of the "Regulations." Since mid-August, with the increasingly clear policy directions of the central government and local governments, the demand for lightweight tractors was gradually released, which in turn drove the overall recovery of the heavy truck market. This was highlighted by the significant increase in sales of FAW liberation, known for tractors, in August.
Various favorable factors gradually released in the second half of the year, leaving more orders in the first half of 2010, resulting in a lower base for the heavy truck market in September-December 2010; after May 2011, signs of domestic heavy truck companies reducing production and digesting inventory became more and more obvious. It has improved in August. The commencement of a large number of affordable housing projects in the second half of 2011 has brought short-term stimulation to heavy truck sales. More importantly, the logistics industry in the major demand areas of heavy trucks is undergoing positive changes, which can, to a large extent, stimulate the recovery of semitrailer tractor sales, thereby increasing the overall prosperity of the heavy truck industry.

The sales of semi-trailer tractors are closely related to the freight volume and profitability of the logistics industry. The above factors will undoubtedly stimulate the recovery of consumption in the logistics vehicle market and release the demand for some tractors, thereby stimulating sales growth in the entire heavy truck market. Although the dawn of heavy truck market began in August, it is still unrealistic for the “Jin 9 Silver 10†season to return to the same level in 2010. It should be noted that the current market performance is not balanced; the main force of growth is still lightweight tractors, and the growth of tractors and construction vehicles is still not satisfactory.
