National Development and Reform Commission Announces Approval for Production of New Energy Vehicles

The National Development and Reform Commission recently released the 29th Announcement of 2008 to release the 164th batch of automobile, motorcycle, three-wheeled vehicles and low-speed truck manufacturing enterprises and products that have been reviewed and approved, including a batch of hybrid and fuel cell power new energy models. (refers to all other energy vehicles except gasoline and diesel engines).

According to the current national policy, the production license management of motor vehicles shall be implemented. All models must pass the review and approval of the National Development and Reform Commission before they can be produced and sold. The new energy vehicles approved this time include Shanghai Volkswagen's fuel cell sedan, a hybrid sedan from FAW Group and Shanghai General Motors, and four hybrid buses from Dongfeng, Chang'an and Beiqi Futian.

Domestically produced new energy vehicles currently entering the market only sell the Prius produced by FAW Toyota. Due to the high price, only two thousand vehicles have been sold in the past two years.
