The first industrialization of a new glycol catalyst was successful
After one month of optimization and adjustment, the selectivity of the new YS-8520H catalyst used in the ethylene glycol plant of Tianjin Petrochemical's olefins department reached 82.6%. The first industrial application was successful.
The new catalyst YS-8520H used this time is a series of improved products of the catalyst developed by Yanshan Petrochemical Institute. Compared with the previously used YS-8520, its life cycle has been extended from 2 years to 3 years, and the average operating cycle selectivity has increased from 82.5% to 83.3%, and the warranty period is as long as 36 months. The technicians stated that through continuous optimization and adjustment, the new catalyst is expected to further extend the active decay cycle, extending the service life to 4 years and meeting the needs of long-term stable operation of the device.
It is reported that after using the new catalyst, under the same working conditions, the consumption of ethylene glycol can be reduced by 8 kg/ton, saving 600 tons of ethylene annually and increasing production by more than 3,000 tons.
According to reports, the YS-8520 catalyst previously used in Tianjin Petrochemical's olefins ethylene glycol plant is a high-performance catalyst developed by the Yanshan Petrochemical Research Institute and is the first industrialized trial product in China. After nearly 40 months of cumulative operation, the mission was successfully completed in August this year.
